Phoenix Park to close for two days ahead of Trump visit

Public and road access to Phoenix Park will be closed from Thursday evening until Saturday evening as US President Donald Trump is expected to visit Dublin. Dublin Zoo will also be closed over the two day period.
The park will close to the public at 11pm on Thursday, September 10, and will reopen to the public at 6pm on Saturday, September 12.
The Office of Public Works advised that all gates and roads into Phoenix Park will be closed, but the park will reopen earlier if it is safe to do so.
Dublin Zoo also to close its doors
Dublin Zoo will be closed to the public for two days, Friday, September 11 and Saturday, September 12.
Trump's visit
The closure comes ahead of US President Donald Trump's planned arrival in Dublin on Saturday, September 12.
He is expected to spend Saturday morning in Dublin meeting heads of state before travelling to Doonbeg, County Clare, to attend the Irish Open during the afternoon and evening.
The city is expected to have a significant security presence due to the President's arrival and scheduled activities.
Commuters and cyclists warned to make alternative travel arrangements
Those who usually access Phoenix Park for walking, cycling or travelling through the area should be aware of the restrictions and make alternative arrangements while the park is closed.
Phoenix Park is set to reopen at 6pm on Saturday evening, but could reopen earlier if it is safe to do so and preparations ahead of Mr Trump's arrival are completed before the scheduled time.
